Subform, datasheet view and backcolor

I have 2 versions of my subform one for editing data and one for viewing
data. I made the backcolor of all the controls on the view version gray to
indicate it's for viewing only. The default display is 'datasheet'. In
datasheet view, however, the fields show with a background color of white. Is
there any way to have them grayed out?
