Subject Field in Outlook 2000

I have a question about Outlook 2000. I apologize if this seems to be a
rather stupid question, and I'm sure that you will think that it is. I just
started using Outlook 2000 today, and having attempted to create and send new
messages now find that no Subject field is present on the window. So, in
essence I can only send people messages with "No Subject" in their subject
field. I don't want to do this.

So my question is, does anyone know how to ENABLE the SUBJECT FIELD for
outgoing mail? At this point all I see is the field where I enter the email
address of the recipients(') email address(es). Where in the world is the
Subject Field?????

See, I told you this was a rather stupid question, but this should be an
easy thing to see. Does a Subject Field even exist in Outlook 2000 (when
creating and sending new email messages)?

after clicking on reply, look on the view menu of the message form - should
see an option there is show subject or show headers.

Thank you for your response. Actually, I was referring to this issue with
respect to composing NEW messages. However, I have since decided to go with
Outlook Express because it does not replicate this issue (that is, the
COMPOSE screen or window in OE gives both a 'SUBJECT' field, as well as 'Cc'
and 'Bcc' fields (or options), neither of which Outook 2000 seems to have
provided, with respect to composing new messages. But thank you anyway.

Well, a few comments.

A) Well, of course OE doesn't show the same problem. It's a completely
different program.

B) Outlook 2000 *does* give you both BCC and Subject line capabilities
(it'd be a pretty horrible email product if it didn't give you a *subject
line*). And the steps Diane gave you should just be as doable in a new
message window as they are in a reply window. I'm not entirely sure that's
the problem, but, if it wasn't, clearing the forms cache would be the next
step I'd try.

C) Outlook 2000 is quite old now, don't let it sour you on the product.

The steps work for new messages too - but honestly, if you are new to
outlook, starting with a 7 yr old version is a lousy introduction. Unless
you need a calendar, you'll be better served by OE.
