Submit_button_email

Hi,

I have a dropdown that automatically populates a text box ( using a data
connection to an XML). Now I need to send an email when I submit the form to
the name in the drop down box.....

Any ideas?

In the properties of the submit button you should be able to choose Submit by
E-mail. Then choose a data connection for submit. In here you can choose
the fx option and insert a field (your dropdown menu) into the To: portion of
the email.

Thanks Wes -- problem is -- my dropdown only has a name not an email address.
I need to send an email to both the drop down selection and the text box name
that the drop down populates -- does this make sense?

I have corrected my own problem - I created an xml doc and now when I select
from the dropdown a specific name populates my text field

I am very new to infopath and have no idea how to do these formulas. I am
trying to do the same thing. Select a name from a drop down box and when I
click submit this person receives an e-mail for them to review, reject or
approve. Know any good sites that can help me create this form?

Hi Deanne,

In order for an email to be sent to the name selected from a drop down you
will need to create a data connection (Tools\data connection) for submit -
then you will need to create a rule that indicates when the data connection
is to be used. Through the submit button you will indicate the rule to be run.

If you need more details -- feel free to ask.

Gail
