submitted task updates do not show in published project

the owner of the project has set a rule that automatically approves updates
to the project.
submitted updates to the task do not show in the project even after
re-publishing.

what could be going wrong?

I am assuming you are using PS 2007 because of another post I saw of yours.

My best guess as to what is happening is that submitted updates are not set
to go to the project owner but rather to someone else. You can verify this
by opening up the schedule and inserting the field "Assignment Owner" into a
Gantt view.

thanks for your reply - i don't think it quite gets me there, yet!

Each team member is his/her own assignment owner. The project owner has set
a rule to automatically approve updates. Any ideas still?

I think Jonathan meant to write "Status Manager" rather than assignment
owner.

Yes, sorry, I meant to check who the "Status Manager" is on the tasks in
question.
