Submitting to site search engines

What is the cheapest way to submit your web site to search engines?

Microsoft used to have a free service that did this. Now they want $49 for
10 URL submissions.

I just need to submit one URL. Can I do it myself? If so how?

and perhaps
http://docs.yahoo.com/info/suggest/

You don't need to submit anything. Once the site is on the web, if it
has any content, it will be listed. The more content, the better the
listing. My new pages are being listed within a week and most times
within a day. I do have active daily updates.
