Subscribing to Server Events

Hi
I am trying to add a custom event handler for CustomFields OnUpdated event.
I have written a dll and installed in GAC of the server machine. when i added
the new event handler, it get's added[gives a pop up saying refresh the page
after some time] , but the event handler is not getting added even after a
day.

The Sharepoint Timer Service is running fine.

Please help me out
