Substitute resources

Peter

"Substitute resources" is greyed out on the tools menu -
why? I have created a simple project, and created a
generic resource - in this case called "joiners". My
resources (the named people) have a custom field
for "Skill" and I have given the "joiners" skill to five
people.

Now, I have a series of tasks - 2 of which require
joinery skills, and I have assigned the generic
resource "joiners" to those tasks. Should I now be able
to use resource substitution to put the appropriatly
skilled individuals into the tasks?

Peter:

First of all, the Resource Substitution Wizard is an Enterprise Feature.
That means that you must be connected to a Project Server with Enterprise
features enabled before the menu item will be active. Once you're connected,
you're not going to get much joy with your approach. You must use Enterprise
Resource Outline Codes to define skills for resource matching in the team
builder and the Resource Substitution wizard. Generic resources and actual
resources must have matching attributes for the match to work.
