Subsystem Spooler has encountered problems

The last couple of days my Outlook has been completely
frozen - nothing gets in and nothing goes out, and it's
impossible to close it down (see Colin's email about
having to use taskmanager to close it) - when I open it
up, the above error message appears:
"Windows Messaging Subsystem Spooler has encountered a
problem and needs to close."
Please someone help!!
