Subtasks and Summary Durations

I have Summary Tasks and subtasks. My subtasks are not rolling up duration and dates to the summary. If I email my project plan to someone else, it looks fine to them. All dates are rolled up appropriately. I have looked for filters etc that perhaps I have on/off incorrectly.
Can anyone please help???

What are you expecting to see and what are you actually seeing? Do you
have recalculation set on, to automatic? Note that the duration of the
summary task is NOT supposed to be the sum of the durations of subtasks
(which is what some people initially think). The duration of the summary
is from when the earliest starting subtask begins until the
last-to-finish subtask ends. The only time it's the sum is if all the
subtasks occur sequentially. If I have 5 subtasks each with a duration
of 5 days and they all start together, the summary task duration is also
5 days. OTOH, if they occur in A->B->C->D->E sequence, the summary
duration is 25 days.

Steve, I am expecting to see a duration and start and finish based on the subtasks. The problem is that the summary is hardcoded at 1 day and project start date. These dates/duration is not changing when I enter in subtasks. I understand it is not a cumulative total is it S-F duration.
The worst is that my "bad" view is okay to others that I send my project to. Which makes me assume that something is not set correctly on my version/desktop.

Thanks,

Check to see if the recalculation setting in the Tools Options
Calculation menu has been set to manual instead of automatic. The
duration of a summary task is indeed a read-only field calculated by
Project and is not directly editable.
