Sudden reset of numbering

I open a Word document with numbering in Word 2003, and
when I save the document the heading numbers are reset to
zero. Any idea?

Hi Zvika

Un-tick the box at Tools > Templates and Add-Ins > "Automatically update
document styles".

Having that box ticked is the most likely cause of the problem.
