Suddenly backspace doesn't work.

Hi, I turned on my computer only to find that suddenly Word 03 doesn't like
my backspace any more. When I highlight text pressing BKSP will not remove
it; also neither does highlighting text and typing. It was working yesterday
and the last thing I did was copy-paste and MSN conversation into Word!!
What's happened and how can I change it back?

Tools > Options > Edit > check the option "Typing replaces selection".
