Suddenly can receive, but not send from different locations

I have been using Entourage for years on my iBook. I have not changed any settings on my iBook. Suddenly, I could not send emails from my office, but can still send from home. I can send from both places if I go to my isp's website. I use a wireless connection at home, and usually use a wireless connection at work. When I started having the problem, I turned off airport and tried using ethernet, no luck. The error I get is "5.7.1 Relaying denied. Proper authentication required. Error 5550"

Layla,

A couple of possibilities come to mind.

One is that your workplace has implemented some new security procedures.
Check with tech support.

The other is that your ISP has implemented new security procedures that
require you to be connected to their network directly (e.g., through your
cable at home). Most ISPs that have done this provide a way to send e-mail
when not directly connected (e.g., at work) that requires additional
security measures, typically logging in. Check your ISPs web site for
instructions on connecting Entourage to your ISP. If they don't have
instructions for Entourage, it is usually possible to "translate"
instructions for Outlook Express.

Your administrator at work has changed the settings on your outgoing (SMTP)
server. It now requires authentication. Talk to them about what settings you
should be using.

Thank you. I have always had "SMTP server requires authentication. Use same settings as receiving mail server." checked. Would the "log on settings" be different because of something the administrator changed? By administrator, do you mean administrator over the network, not an administrator on my Mac, right? Because I am the only administrator on the Mac.

Yes. There may be a change to your login details. They may also want you to
use a different port, or a different server entirely. They might have the
server configured to not allow you to send non-work email. There are many
possibilities.

Right.
