Suddenly cannot create or print envelopes

All of a sudden, I am unable to create envelopes on Microsoft Word for Mac. I click on "Tools," then on "envelopes," and type in address in delivery window, but when I click "OK," I get only a blank document and it will not convert or print to an envelope. This happened very suddenly. Yesterday I printed about 8 envelopes, today -- nothing.

Well, if it worked fine yesterday but not today it's a clear indication that
something has changed ‹ the question is "What?" :)

Have you installed/updated/removed any software?

Have you tried restarting Word? Or restarting your Mac?

Does this happen in a specific document? All documents, including a new one?

What is the exact update level of both OS X & Office?

Same has happened to me. I have not printed envelopes for a while, but today
nothing happens. I have a HP C7280 Printer and the print queue just says
"Printing", but nothing is happening. It works otherwise with Word as long I
do not print an envelope. Also have OS X 10.5.8 fully updated.

Perhaps if you'd answer the questions never responded to by the OP someone
would be able to assist. Without that information we have no idea what to
suggest or where to start looking for answers.

Additionally, have you checked the HP site for an updated driver?

My first question actually is whether or not envelopes worked before?
I would also want to know whether you modified the envelope
orientation making it impossible to print. DId you modify the envelope
orientation at the printer level (using the printer driver)? If you
have another user in the household have them try printing envelopes to
the same printer from Word on their machine (Mac or PC). If this is
indeed a document problem - i. e. the envelope document is bad in some
way then you should be able to solve the problem simply by creating a
new envelope document.

Good luck,

I now have the same problem. The envelopes feed through the printer and it
sounds as if the printer is printing but they come out blank. I tried
printing to a blank piece of paper and the same thing happens. It has nothing
to do with margins or anything like that. I restarted Word and re-booted my
PC and the problem remains. Seeing several people are having the same issue I
doubt very seriously that we all did the same thing to create this problem.
It would appear that Microsoft did something to all of us, i.e. some update
that has created this problem.

As recommended to others: Make sure your version of Office & OS X are
*fully* updated & check the mfr's site for an updated printer driver.
Programs do not print, they simply call for the service. If the job fails
it's usually the OS, the printer driver, or the printer itself at fault.

Doesn't Snow Leopard look for its own choice of drivers automatically?

Just because it "looks" for them doesn't mean it will find them. Printer
updates forwarded by Apple only get passed along with OS X updates and only
those received from the printer mfrs by Apple in time for the update release
make it through. There have been a significant number of driver issues with
Snow Leopard & many of the corrections just don't make it in time. In those
cases the updates are posted on the printer mfr's site well before they are
able to be supplied in the next OS X update release.
