Suddenly Lost access to GAL only, messages are unaffected

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

Beginning with 12.1.3 update and continuing after the 12.1.4 update, I have lost ability to do new lookups from the GAL. This simultaneously affected others at my workplace who also run Entourage 2008 on Intel Macbook Pros and 10.5. Messages continue to work fine with addresses from my contact list, manually entered addresses or when replying to new messages. Text Error reads "Entourage cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that your DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct."

I've had that here on occasions. Usually it was because the network admins
here had changed things on the LDAP server. Could that be the case for you
too? Did you try contacting them??

That would be my assumption too. Take the name of the server you were
using and ask if it's still valid. Be sure you're using the fully
qualified domain name, which is in the form of "server.domain.com".

Ask for the address of another Global Catalog Server.

Hope this helps!

Yes. They say no changes have been made. I have confirmed the LDAP server name is the same as what is being used in Outlook on a PC.
I have a counterpart that applied the update at a different day than I, and their symptoms corresponded with the time of installing the 12.1.3 update.
