suddenly missing calendar contacts journal notes tasks folders

I just realized that I am missing several of the primary folders in outlook
that I normally would see in the Navigation Pane using folder view.

I believe my Outlook is working correctly (other than this issue). I can
access my calendar, contacts, or tasks by using other methods. However I can
not drag and drop an email into one of these (missing) folders the way I have
always done because they are no longer in the Navigation Pane as they should
be ????

Could you help?

thanks,

What version of Outlook and what Navigation Pane view are you using?

Brian,

Thanks for the reply.

Outlook 2003

The Navigation Pane on the left has a title at the top "All Mail Folders"

Does that answer the question?

Judy,

Thanks for the reply.

Just to be sure, I tried running each of the following from the start run
window:

outlook /resetnavpane
outlook /resetfolders
outlook /resetfoldernames

None of them cured the problem.

When I ran the resetnavpane switch it put the folders down at the bottom of
the Navigation Pane, but it did not add those folders back into my list of
folders as it was before this all started.

Ah so you tricked me when you said you were using the Folder List view -
when you look at the Navigation Pain in Mail view you will see "all Mail
Folders" not the Contacts, Tasks, Calendar etc. Mail view is filtered in
the Nav Pain.

Click the Folder List view in the bottom left corner of the Navigation Pain
and your folders should miraculously reappear. Now the heading of the Nav
Pain will say Folder List.

Judy,

Thanks much for the help. It worked!

If you have any idea how this might have happened, I'd love to know. It
seems like a mystery to me right now...

no mystery whatsoever. You were looking at the MAIL folders by using the
Mail view of the Navigation Pain. This is the reason I call it the
Navigation PAIN rather than Pane. You lose sight of folders. The Folder
List is the only wholistic view of Folders in Outlook.
