Suddenly, the taskbar...

Suddenly, the taskbar (under my desktop) is two rows instead of one. And
there are programs there which I did not start. And the programs do not have
a 'close' option. Each program has a 'delete' option -- however, if I choose
'delete' the shortcut icon is deleted from my desktop, and I do not want
that -- I only want to stop the program (for which there is an icon) from
running.

How would I get my taskbar back to one row under my desktop, and **close**
the running programs which I did not start?

I am running Windows XP Home with SP2.

Thank you,

You seem to have posted this in the wrong forum. Post in a Windows XP forum

Not an Outlook question, but just grab the top edge of the taskbar and drag
it down to make it one row again.
