suggestion box will not work in spell check

When using Spell Check, on Word the spell check box appears but seconds later
the "suggestion" box turns off and I cannot use it to correct any miss
spelled words. I have gone into the Tools and checked all that applies with
no luck.
My laptop works fine, I have also looked at all the paramaters in the laptop
Vs my desk top and all are the same. Any ideas?

By spell check box, I am assuming that you are referring to the square box
that pops up with a lightening bolt icon when you misspell a word. Below
are a few questions that will assist us in troubleshooting your issue:

1) Are you seeing a corrugated underline below the misspelled word?

2) When you move the "I" beam cursor over the word or place the blinking
line cursor within the word, do you see a blue rectangle under the left most
character?

3) If you context click (right click) on the misspelled word, do you have
spelling options?

4) Do you have "Show AutoCorrect Options buttons" selected in Tools \
AutoCorrect Options \ AutoCorrect?
