I have noticed a number of questions related to outlook 2003 time out errors
both pop and smtp. I've read them all, and have one question:
There must be something in common with all these questions related to setup,
use, configuration or other for that many users to have the same problem.
Any experts out there noticed this trend? Have any suggestions? Specifically
suggestions not related to virus scanners, firewalls, adware, spyware and
such?
My issue is the same. With all of the above either disabled or not even
installed, the problem exists. Mine is a clean, new install of Xp Pro with
office 2003, outlook 2003. I have even wiped the drive and re installed the
OS. I can send/rcv thru my ISP (roadrunner) using the same cable modem and a
different computer (Win98SE with outlook 2000) with no problems. I've
configured windows firewall to allow SMTP, POP, ports 110, 25, 143, IMAP3,
IMAP4, even HTTP and HTTPS. I've searched for additional configuration setups
required or possibly needed. In short, I have tried everything I can think of
to resolve this problem.
So as above, my main question here is:
Does anyone know what the problem actually is?
(too many people with the same problem means to me a related problem)
Please be as specific and detailed as possible. The more information,
suggestions and questions the better. Maybe we can discover a related issue.
thanks
