Sum of caculated field in pivottable is calculation not sum

In Excel 2007 when I generate a caculated field to multiply a quantity field
by a cost field to get a value the same formula seems to apply to the Totals.

Thus instead of getting the total value I am getting the Total of all costs
multiplied by the total quantity.
