SUM OF WHICH FIGURES IS CLOSEST TO TARGET?

Hello!

Is there any function in Excel (2000 and / OR 2002) that I can do the
following (as an example):

spreadsheet has a list / range of different figures
they are adjacent cells
I want to know the sum of which figures comes closest to, without
surpassing, a certain amount.

Tried "goal seek" - version 2000 has a ton of options, terminology on
which I've never heard of. Version 2002 has only 3
"fill-in-the-blanks" which are not appropriate for what i need.

I'm fully aware that it's not gonna help much of the situation. Your
query could be solved by VBA programming. I would like to share with
you the enthusiasm of acquisition.
