Try this:

H1 = 1/3/2009

=SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A10=H1),C1:C10+E1:E10)

paste this formula and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to apply this formula. If
successful in the Formula Bar you can notice the curly braces at both ends
