summary of hours per resource per wbs

How do I generate a report that gives me hours assigned to each resource in a
wbs element with a summary of each resource at the top level wbs. So, I have
programmer, engineer assgined hours on wbs 1, wbs2 and wbs 4. I want to see
total hours for each resource for each top level wbs.

Weyrleader,
I didn't check every possible view combination but as near as I can tell
you cannot get exactly what you want from a report or view and
customizing a Report gives less flexibility than customizing a View.
About the closest direct approach I could come up with is to apply a WBS
filter (perhaps an interactive filter) to the Task Usage View with a
split screen with either a Resource Usage or Task Form in the bottom
pane.

You can get exactly what you want however with a VBA macro. I have
created similar reports many times by gathering the Project data,
manipulating it as necessary, exporting to Excel and formatting into the
report format needed. This approach is extremely flexible and can create
a report that is easy to save and/or send to others.
