Summary Task Duration Adding to Fraction

T

Tina Winter

I enter all the durations for my project as whole days, but the summary adds
up to the number of whole days plus .88. I have tried to reenter the
duration, but that did not change the summery. Why is this happening and how
do I get rid of it? If I can't get rid of it, how can I format the duration
not to show decimal points? Thanks for your help!!! Happy Holidays. Tina

Hi Tina,

Are any of your tasks constrained? Have you added lag time to any task
link? Has your project calendar been modified with non-working time?

The summary task duration is calculated by Project as the amount of time in
working time from the start of the first of the subtasks to the finish of the
latest of the subtasks, so somewhere in your schedule you have that
fractional (.88) time in there.

As far as I know, there is no way to only display whole numbers in the
duration field.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

You may have an overlap of 2 or more tasks within the summary or there may
be a delay in the link between a couple of tasks. The duration of a summary
task is not the aritmetic sum of the durations of its component subtasks
except by accident.
