summary task info storage

Is info in summary tasks stored in the database or are the values calculated
on the fly. The reason I am asking is that we are going to build some
reports and it would be easier for the people running the reports to select
summary tasks rather then a bunch of individual tasks to run the reports on.

What you are saying is correct. But be aware that baseline values don't
rollup on partial rebaselining. The users have to check the boxes to rollup
baselines to summary tasks for baselining selected tasks as baselines don’t
automatically rollup.

I am still lost. Does the calculated values in the summary tasks get stored
in the database or is it calculated when the project is opened. My question,
is whether or not I can create sql report writer reports using summay task
info or do I need to use the actual sub tasks?
