Super speed page down - Word 2000/XP

T

Terri

I have Word 2000 running on XP operating systems.
Occationally when in Word I hit the page down key and the
Word document will "fly" to the end of the doc and the
cursor will blink for as much as a minute before allowing
any additional movement. When it occurs, I do not press
any of the keys or mouse buttons, pretty much waiting for
the "spasm' to end.

Any idea's to the cause?

Cleaning the keyboard, could be the page-down key locks?

Thanks for the thought - however, we have 3 people in my
office who are encountering the same little "demon". I
checked keyboards when it first showed up and they seem to
be OK. We all have recently moved to XP desktops and it
seems to be happening arbitrarily. I looked up to see if
there was some type of hotkey in XP we were hitting
inexplicably but haven't found anything that seems to
apply. I was hoping I might find someone who might be
encountering a similar situation and knew of a fix...

Did you ever get it fixed? I'm having the same problem with a scrolling
mouse. Tried a new one, and nothing helps.

The only thing that will truly correct this issue is to upgrade to at
least Word 2002 since they rectified the scroll speed in that version.

Otherwise you could downgrade your computer to a slower processor but
I suspect that's an unacceptable solution. ;-)
