Suppress header and footer on certain pages

Vijay R

I want to suppress the header and footer on pages where
the new chpater begins. I have created my own template
which I apply to the document. I user "Heading 1" - which
is also part of the Normal template to write the chapter
information.

Can I supress the header on the pages where a new chapter
begins? Also I would always like my chapter to begin at an
odd number page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

How can your own template also be part of normal.dot?

But anyway, go to File > Page Setup. Go to the Layout tab and check the
'Different first page' option. Within your document start a new section for
each chapter. You'll see that you have two lots of headers and footers, one
for the first page of each section and one for all other pages. These may be
different for each section if you need.

And make the section break between chapters and Odd Page break.
