Is there a way to display two different surfaces on an excel surface
chart? I seem to only be able to plot the two data sets along side of
each other instead of superimposed.

AFAIK, XL doesn't support combination chart types that include 3-D
charts.

You could, possibly, plot the two surfaces on different charts, then
change the transparancy of one and superimpose them.
