In some e-mail messages that I recive in Outlook 2007 is the typical swedish
letters å,ä,ö replaced with a black square with a questionmark in it.
Sometimes are the letters replaced with an empty space. I have spooken with
different sources of support but so far no solution is delivered that has
solved the problem. One supporter says that it can help check if Outlook 2007
is handeling e-mail with utf-8 enabled but I can not find where to check this
out in the Outlook settings. Can anyone help me with this issue?

What is the encoding of these incoming messages?

Swedish characters do not need Unicode, but they are outside of the
ASCII character range, so you need an encoding of either ISO-8859-1 or
Windows-1252; Unicode (UTF-8) is of course fine too.

Thank you Pat for your answer.

I'm not sure how to find the encoding for these messages. I can not right
click on them to wiev source. If I right click on any other message than
these messages with troubleling swedish letters in them there is possible for
me to view source.

In order to see the encoding of the received message you need to look at
the message headers (View | Options). Look for charset=

Or you could click on the Reply button, and you would see the encoding
in the Format menu.

Ok Pat. This is what I found:

Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"
