switchboard label change

How do I hide the default label for the switchboard and then add a new label
above the switchboard button items list?

A 'switchboard" is simply a form that Access generates. Open your switchboard
in form Design View and change the label to whatever you want it to be.

I've tried this and then when I got to Form View everything has disappeared
except for the Header

You apparently did something more than simply change the caption on a label.

Ah! Evidently that's the problem. I edited the text in design view on the
form. Things later disappeared. I then went into the table for the
switchboard and noticed that it had it's own things in there..
