I am having a problem creating an additional switchboard. I know how to
create and edit switchboards but when I try to add a switchboard (there are 4
already created) it appears to work but does not appear on the main
switchboard yet is in the switchboard items manager. Never had this problem
before..please help

This may seem obvious, but did you create an entry on the *main* Switchboard Page to go to this new
page?

I have and it shows up under database utilities Switchboard manager as a new
switchboard page but when I reopen the switchboard nothing has changed and
the new page is not there. It is mentioned in the Table Switchboard items. On
the Main switchboard page I have 5 items already but just cannot make another
visible, yet I can go to this invisible board from another switchboard via
add new item and tell it to go to the contents of that switchboard. I can add
to the contents of the new board it just will not appear on the main
menu..any ideas It is Office 2003

Hummm...that's odd.
Can you post the records for the *main* switchboard page here so I can see them?
They will most likely have 1 as the SwitchboardID, but not necessarily.
Look for the Argument "Default" and list each record that has SwitchboardID as the same number.

Something like this:
SwitchboardID ItemNumber ItemText Command Argument
1 0 Main Switchboard 0 Default
1 1 Go To Second Page 1 2
1 2 Go To Third Page 1 3
Etc....

Don't know if you managed to read the last post but I said item 6(1) was the
item I attempted to place on the main page, actually it was item 6 (0) All
Waiting List Reports. As I say it looks like it is on the main page but it's
not

Jeff, I'm really sorry for having wasted your time, I took a coffee break and
when I started again, I saw that I had in actual fact made some stupid
mistakes. I have found what I was doing wrong and fixed it. Thought I had put
new entry on main page but had created a new switboard page and forgotten to
put subsequent sntry on the main page, although I had filled the new page
with all required data. Now more awake I can see clearly again. Thanks for
your time, not normally so daft, guess just too tired to see the obvious

Hi,

No problem.
I had just entered some of the records into a test database and immediately saw an issue. I came
back to the NG and just saw you found the problem.

Yes, it would appear you need to have an item on the main page. All the items on the *main* page
will have 1 in the SwitchboardID column.

Glad you got it fixed.

Hi Jeff when you say you entered some of the records into a test database
what do you mean? How do you use what I gave you to create records and solve
issues? I've never tried that

Hi Alistair,

I just did these steps:
1. Created a new blank database
2. Ran the *old* SBM (inside joke <g>)
3. Took your information and just entered it directly into the Switchboard Items table
4. Opening the Switchboard Form would show everything, but I would get an error of course anytime I
clicked an option other than to open another page. This is because I do not have the forms, reports,
macros, etc.

Problem was easy to spot then.
