It is a collection of buttons allowing you to open several forms in your
application. There is some handling behind it in the Northwind sample.
It's not so much 'should' as 'could' use it. I have a different way of
guiding my users through my application (menubars and contextual
navigation based on the relationships in the database); the switchboard
too closely resembles the old-fashioned Main Menu from the DOS era
