Switching from Outlook 2002 to Outlook Express

Seeing as there seems to be no other palce to post this here goes:

Recently I have had a coworker ask me to switch his email from Outlook 2002
to Outlook Express 6. All went well the email was transfered and all
settings were setup. However when he tries to read a message the only thing
that appears in the body is the hourglass. When trying to send a message he
can type in everything except for the body of the message. I've tried to
find a solution that does not require reinstalling WinXP and as a last resort
IE 6 ... I have never encountered this problem in my 10 years of working
with Microsoft products ... just to reiterate it will not read or allow a
user to compose a message at all. P4 system with 512MB SDRAM, plenty of hard
drive space, WinXP Japanese version (hence the other problem I'm not
Japanese, but easy enough to work around that). Any help would be
appreciated.
