Hi,

I would greatly appreciate it if I could receive an assistance for multilingual font default settings on MS Word 2008 for Mac.

I use two languages (Japanese and English) and often switch one from another in a text. Let's say, if I start typing English using Times New Roman, switch to Japanese (font: Mincho, etc.) once and switch back to English, the font doesn't go back to Times New Roman but stays Mincho, though I see the American flag on the menu bar.

Every time I switch back to English from Japanese, I have to go to "Font" on the toolbar and re-select Times New Roman. Otherwise, the English text written before switching to Japanese is different from ones in Mincho. Times New Roman as the default font on my MS Word does not seem to be effective, once Mincho is used.

I tried to turn on and off Japanese Language on the Microsoft Language Register box, but that didn't solve the problem.

The same thing happens in a comment box on Word.

I am hoping that I will not have to take the step of going to "Font" to re-select the font that I was using before switching to Japanese. What should I do?

Thank you for your help!

Sorry, you will indeed have to correct the font each time: it is a bug.

If you disable "Match font with keyboard" in your Word preferences, Word
should then not switch fonts in either direction.

But there's no way to make it switch them "properly".

Cheers
