Switching Over from Netscape Messenger to Outlook 2003 - Please Help!

Alex

Hi, I'm finally biting the bullet and switching over to Outlook 2003
from Netscape Messenger 7.1. I have a handful of questions and would
immensely appreciate any assistance...

1) I have nearly a thousand important e-mails archived in folders in my
Netscape Messenger. How can I transfer/import these e-mails/e-mail
folders into Outlook?

2) I also have hundreds of contacts/address books in my Netscape
Messenger. How can I transfer/import these e-mails/e-mail folders into
Outlook?

3) If you have Outlook on a home and work computer, is it possible to
sync/copy your calendar and contacts between the computers?

4) Is it possible to compose e-mails in Outlook in text as opposed to
HTML? If so, how do you change these settings?

5) If you're sending an e-mail to a contact in Outlook, and that
contact has multiple e-mail addresses, what do you do if you want to
second it to their second or third e-mail address (not their first
e-mail address, which seems to be the default)? What if you want to
send the e-mail to all of their e-mail addresses?

Thanks again for any and all help!

Best,
Alex

1, 2) unless Netscape supports exporting in a format OL can import from,
you'll need to install Netscape 4 and import.
3) Depends on how the server/firewall is set up.
4) tools, options, mail format.
5) you'll need to enter the name in the to, cc or bcc fields and can change
the address autoresolve points to after it resolves.

Google is your friend.
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=g...+import)++(contacts+OR+addresses)&qt_s=Search

See if this helps: http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/ns7mailtoOEorO.html .
The only thing I'd change in the advice is, after importing into Outlook
Express, that you use OE to export to Outlook instead of importing from OE
using Outlook.
2) I also have hundreds of contacts/address books in my Netscape
Messenger. How can I transfer/import these e-mails/e-mail folders
into Outlook?

Exporting addresses in CSV format produces a file Outlook can import.
3) If you have Outlook on a home and work computer, is it possible to
sync/copy your calendar and contacts between the computers?

Yes. See http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm for ideas. I use a PDA.
4) Is it possible to compose e-mails in Outlook in text as opposed to
HTML? If so, how do you change these settings?

Sure. In the compose window, you can click Format>Plain Text. You can also
make it the default for all messages with the "Compose in this message
format" drop-down on Tools>Options>Mail Format.
5) If you're sending an e-mail to a contact in Outlook, and that
contact has multiple e-mail addresses, what do you do if you want to
second it to their second or third e-mail address (not their first
e-mail address, which seems to be the default)?

You can specify up to three addresses that the Outlook Address Book will
display. Make the one you want to use the most often the "E-mail" address,
the one you wish to use next the "E-mail 2" address, and the one you wish to
use least the "E-mail 3" address. Outlook's address book will always
display all three all the time. so you can choose which one to use.
What if you want to
send the e-mail to all of their e-mail addresses?

Include each address in a recipient field.
