sychronizing with outlook 2003 does not allow activesync to disco.

synchronizing my Ipaq with outlook 2003 ends up with activesync unable to
disconnect needing taskmanager to accompolish this and after that outlook
2003 will not open unless I restart my computer. any suggestions?
