Hello all, first post.

I have searched these boards and this everyone's issue seemed to be
resolved ny resetting the menu's. I have tried that and it did not work.

lil more info on my situation.

I am using Office XP and this feature was working. Somehow a Hotbar
application was installed and putting smilies and links at the bottom of my
emails. I uninstalled the hotbar app from add/remove progs and that went
away OK. Only thing it seemed to mees with outlook. I tried repairing OL
with no success. I also re-installed selecting every possible option for
OL. I have tried to manually add this but I do not see it anywhere..

Any help is appriciated

With the New Email window open, put the flashing cursor in the body area then
right-click in the toolbar area to open the Customize window. Then click
Commands. Highlight Insert in the left window and the Symbols command icon
should appear as a choice in the right window. Click on it to select then
drag it to the Insert menu of the New Email window.

I have more or less the same problem as Adam (and he reminded me that I too
have recently removed a Hotbar application!)which is that I no longer have
"Symbols" in the Insert menu (for me this is happening in Microsoft Office
Outlook 2003)
I have tried to do what JosephV and Garnfield had suggested but there is
nowhere the "Symbols" command icon in the right window! So I can't "select
it" etc...

Is it important to point out that all my emails are now labelled "message
(HTML)" which I am sure they were not before this problem started...

Any other suggestions? I would be very grateful indeed!

Dear Milly
Thanks for replying but you are getting very technical.... The only thing I
can tell you is that I do have Word and in Word the Symbols icon does exist
in the Insert menu BUT I don't want to have to write in Word then copy and
paste in my new email if I can help it! I used to be able to type in my new
email then go to Symbols to add any accent needed...
The icon Symbols seems to have completely disappeared from the right hand
side menu when I go to Customise and Commands...

I have Outlook Express 6. I am trying to find the shortcut to create the "e"
in Résumé. I use Word as my editor and did not have a Hotbar as described
below. When I go to "Customize," there is nothing to indicate "insert" or
"symbol." "Insert symbol" used to be part of Outlook. What happened? Is
there any way to get it back?
