symbol prints different than shown

When I insert a check mark symbol in a document, it prints as an arrow. Why
does this happen?

Usually means that your printer is using its own version of the typeface,
with a differently defined character. Check your printer properties and make
sure you are downloading (rather than substituting) fonts.
