Symbol shortcuts

Anyone else having problems with Word 2007 deleting/losing shortcuts entered
for symbols?

I use some foreign symbols frequently for which I made shortcuts on the
keyboard. Didn't use to be a problem. But, now I notice after a couple days
all the shortcuts are gone and have to be re-entered. Never had this gripe
before, but . . . what the hell?!

Anyone else with this issue?

Yes.

One relevant problem seems to be that if a specific font is selected
in the Insert Symbol panel when you create the shortcut, Word thinks
you want it to apply only to that font.

Also be sure you're saving them to a template and not to the specific
document you're working in.

Given that the customization context for keyboard shortcuts is always
Normal.dot (or Normal.dotm) unless you explicitly change it, this is less
likely to be a cause of the problem.
