Symbols & Ofc Asst Gallery have disappeared

Please help me find where the different categories of symbols disappeared
to! Despite reinstalling Word for Mac 2004 on my iBook G4, OS 10.4.10, I no
longer have the three sets of "webding" symbols that one can find under
"Insert."

Also, where do I find the gallery with options for the Office Assistant
icon? I like the Office Assistant...but I can't stand "Max," the computer
icon.

Thank you!

Are you sure you don't mean Wingdings? - There is a Wingdings2 & a
Wingdings3, but I'm only aware of one Webdings font. Also, you may want to
investigate the use of the Character Palette available in OS X. It is far
more extensive than the Insert> Symbol dialog.

If You still have any font problems after following the reply to your other
post, submit a new inquiry with specifics.

The other characters were not brought along into Office 2004. I believe I'v
seen some suggestion that they can still be obtained but honestly can't
recall if that applies to Mac or just the PC version... My opinion of the
feature is diametrically opposed to yours:), but perhaps someone else will
be able to offer more help on the availability.

Thank you!

Judy

If you have Office 2001 or Office X (and probably Office 98) lying
around somewhere, you can copy the office assistants from the older
version into the appropriate location for Office 2004. I think you can
get them off either the CD or an installation of an older version of
Office.

Copy them to here: Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Office/Assistants.

I always preferred Max, myself.

Thank you, Daiya! I love the opinions we each have about the office
assistants. Feel free to have Max all to yourself! (-:
