How do I type the symbol for the numerical function of
MEAN in Excell or Word? This is an x with a bar or "-"
above it.

The Equation Editor will do it in Word (any character with a bar etc. across
it) but I've never tried to use it in Excel. You might be able to produce
the character in Word and then copy it but I'm sure someone should have a
better idea (g)!
