Sync Contacts Between Work and Hom

I see some older comments about syncing on Outlook 2003 but I am using
Outlook 2007 and I know their are more services (e.g. Office Live) that were
not available when some of these questions were answered.

I have a very large contact list on my work computer. I would like to
synchronize (not transfer/copy) some of those contacts (just the personal
ones) with my home computer system. I would like for this to happen
automatically in the background if at all possible (e.g. not mailing files
back-and-forth).

What is the most painless way for doing this?

You provided no information. State what information store you are using at
work and how you plan to access it from home. Explain why you think Outlook
could even do this.
