Sync Entourage-iCal script problems

K

Kerry

Does anyone use the Sync Entourage-iCal script for sync'g the two
products. I'm not hearing back from the developer but I've run into a
problem with the script. If I make changes to a task in iCal, such as
completing it, it syncs fine to Entourage. But I'm noticing that
changes I make on my Palm, although they will sync fine to iCal using
Missing Sync, they don't sync over to Entourage using the sync script.
I've tested this extensively as I noticed things would get out of
alignment and initially I couldn't figure this out but I've narrowed
it down to making changes on the Palm not sync'g through to Entourage.
To get everything in alignment I have to do a full overwrite first
sync.

Has anyone else used the script and noticed this when they've changed
things on their Palm. I've checked the documentation carefully and I
can't see that I'm doing anything wrong. It is just so odd that it is
not recoginizing the changes initiated in the Palm as iCal changes but
for some reason the sync script doesn't see the change in Entourage
and change the Entourage item to mirror iCal.

Paul Berkowitz is usually very responsive to requests for support. He's the
best person to deal with your problem. I would try contacting him again.

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of users of this script.
Paul Berkowitz is usually very responsive around here and also to direct
support requests - however, he is a busy man in other areas as well (we all
have a 'real life' outside of our voluntary MVP Activities!).

Try dropping him another email - I'm sure he'll get back to you.

I'm just curious - what is an MVP.

Actually I've sent him 3 E-mails as I've isolated what is going on but
have not had any replies. If its something I could sort out myself, I
would but I've read the documentation as clearly as possible and I
keep replicating what I've isolated so I don't know if this is a
problem in the script, sync services whatever and whether just to give
up on what I'm trying to do.

Also, I didn't mean to imply he's not busy. I'm sure he is as am I.
And in terms of a real life - well I do a lot of volunteer work and I
feel that's as real as my work. In fact, I enjoy it much more than my
bread and butter work and people love hearing about my stories related
to that but not so much about my work life.

Thanks for the info. I knew nothing of this but that's great that
Microsoft promotes that kind of community based support.
