Sync Issues & Modification Resolution

Hi, Here's the scenario:

I have a recurring appointment that I set up long ago for 10pm every night
to organize myself for the next day.. During the day I'll type some notes
into the appt. thus making it an exception on the recurrence, which is fine.

My first, but not as important, issue is that if I do an Advanced Find, I
can't get at any of the exception-appointments. The only way I've found was
to code it out and I don't recall right now the syntax I used but there was
something in the Object model that I could get at them somehow.. If anyone
has any info on that I'd appreciate it, but on to bigger and better things...

So these appointments that I've been making changes to all along, I happened
to notice like a month or so ago that the text inside these recurring
appointments, even though they show the line-through-the-arrow icon to show
me they're exceptions, the inner text is GONE!

I've done some searching around and it seems that the Sync Issues folder is
for Exchange synch, not Windows Mobile sync.. I don't know if I quite believe
that though.. From what I can see, there's a ton of 'Modification Resolution'
items in there, and I can see one specifically from last week where I entered
some notes, and my Windows Mobile device happens to still have the contents,
but the desktop doesn't..

There is a bunch of semi-cryptic content in these Resolution messages, which
mostly end up being 'Successfully auto-resolved' -- I'd beg to differ :-(

I'd toss a sample up here but don't want it to be too long or something but
if someone wants it I've got a bunch of examples I could post..

I'd love to figure this out before it rolls off my device after the 2wk.
retention, and I kind-of don't want to risk setting my synch settings on my
device to ALL because it would slow down like a pig..

Thoughts?

The Sync Issues folder is used when synching with Exchange, but I don't know
if that's its exclusive use. I don't use WMDC, so I don't know it that folder
also receives sync errors for that.

My thought is that there are so many ways to lose exception information that
I'd shy away from keeping notes in the way you describe. Many types of series
changes will result in all exceptions being wiped away. I'd convert the
series into individual items if I wanted to work as you describe. While you
can't convert an open-ended series to individual appointments, you can go out
to any specific date in the future that you wish.

I think the sync folder is for all syncs - I gets messages when I sync with
hotmail.

There are issues syncing exceptions to mobile devices - you really should
use individual appointments for notes you need to keep. (Copy the recurrence
in place and make the notes in the copy.)
