Sync MS Office on personal laptop with desktop at home

Is there a way to use my wireless network between my laptop and desktop at
home so I have the same information in both places? I've tried to set up a
wireless LAN but for some reason they cannot recognize each other.

Do I need special software to do this? Or is this so simple and I'm just
missing it?

joybygrace,
Go here to "sync" Outlook between the 2:

OSA-Sync PRO is a great add-in to do what you want for this program.
Sharing / editing saved files in Word, etc... between your system without a
Windows server version can corrupt these files. You can use one as a backup
to retrieve from if needed for reinstall to the client.
If your q is on Windows networking post here
