Sync option

Hello

It appears in Project that the Actuals Work and Actuals Work Protected are
different. So, the Tools/Tracking/Sync to Protected Actuals option must be
used. But, when I click on this option, nothing happens.

What does the Sync option work? Any idea why it's not operational on our
projects?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi TP,

If you switch on the "managed period" within Project Server and your actual
work and actual work protected are out of sync, Project Professional askes
you every time if you want to synch the 2 values. This is when you usually
use it.

I assume that you dont have managed periods activated.

Hello
We use Managed periods. Of course when the Sync message shows up, I always
answer Yes.
However, when I can observe discrepancies between Actuals Work (AW) and
Actuals Work Protected (AWP), I need to use Sync option. And nothing seems to
be sync. What is exactly this option supposes to do: ie : put all AW = AWP of
each assignment?
thanks

Hi TP,

the option synronises all Actual work to receive the same value then Actual
Work Protected.
I am a little puzzled that it doesnt work and just tested it again here on a
test server and it works fine.
Just a general question, do you have SP2a installed on Project Server and
Project Professional?
thanks

Hello Marc
We have SP2a on the server and SP2 on our PC. I have the Admin right.
Do you have any idea why the Sync option does nothing? Thanks

We use managed time periods and have used this from time-to-time.
However, just over the last couple of weeks we seen cases where
we try to sync to acutals and MS Project crashes. Then just a mysteriously
it began for some reason, days later, it goes away and we can sync
again.

It seems simple that it just takes Protected Actuals and overwrites them
into Actuals. But, what else is it doing?
