Sync resources from AD

our AD has displaynames like 'Last Name , First Name' as we synchronise users
to EPM it will convert commas to semicolons.
But a lot of our users use semicolons as their default (regional) list
separators, How can they insert synced users as resources because these
resource are also separated with the same semicolon. Changing their regional
options is no option for our management.

Are you using Project Server 2003 or 2007? In either case, we usually
just create a group in AD called Project Server Resource Pool or
something like that and then add the proper security groups to the
membership and it will sync them all.

Dear project server slave,

Thanks for your answer. We are using EPM2007.
The problem is not synchronisation between AD and EPM. But that
synchronisation convert commas to semicolons. In think we should get rid of
any separator in our usernames because the default separator in Europe is a
comma and in the us they use a semicolon?

AD sync process will automatically replace comma separators with a semi colon.

If a project manager add resources to his project the resources are also
separated with a semicolon. This makes that resources are splitted like:
Resource 1 lastname ; resource 1 name:
Resource 2 lastname ; resource 2 name:
and so doubling the amount of resources. A feature my boss likes.

In the US the list separator is a comma. This is why you cannot create a
resource manually or through AD Synch with a comma, in order to avoid the
double counting that you referred to. This is why the AD Synch replaces
commas with semi-colons. So in your example below the resource column would
read:

lastname1 ; firstname1 , lastname2 ; firstname2
