Sync To Actuals

Hi:

Our project managers update there schedule "Remaining Work", "Actual Time"
in project; this is overriden once they say yes (by mistake) to Sync to
actuals pop up windows. It overwrites project managers values with the values
in the resources timesheet. Is it possible to get over this and also to stop
the pop which asks the manager to sync to actuals.

Sorry I double posted this as I posted before in wrong area.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I used to be called Wildman but I out grew it. I've run into your
dilemma. Your problem is simple to identify and not so easy to fix.
You're configured to Manage Timesheet Periods which requires the
systems to protect timesheet hours submitted by resources and Accepted
by Project Managers and Updated to their projects.

Once this takes place you're stuck. This project is guarded and
protected by PWA. The PM will not be allowed to remove a resource from
a Task assignment once that resource has hours logged. The PM can try
as he might to make changes around the Actuals but every time he hits
the Save button that "Sync" warning message will appear. However,
"Remaining Work" should not be affected. You only have one
problem, "Actual Work Protected" .

In the past, I told PMs to do what Nancy Reagan used to say about
drugs, "Just say NO". Tell your PMs to JUST SAY NO.

Or; you can turn the Manage Timesheet Periods off and this solution
affects all projects on the server.

Or; you can take the long way around and have the PM recreate his
project and not include members of the resource pool but then he'll
have to update his schedule manually.

So, your problem is caused by PWA being configured to Managed Timesheet
Periods, and a project having Actual Work Protected. Remaining Work
can be adjusted, Actual Hours, in a project, cannot be adjusted by the
PM.

Good Luck, Rene
