Sync with Out of Office Assistant

Is there a way to synchronize the Out of Office Assistant with the Calendar in Outlook 2000? I want to have Outlook turn on the Assistant automatically whenever I have an "Out of Office" event in my Calendar. True, I can configure the Assistant to respond from Date X to Date Y, but that seems like a duplication of effort. Any help would be great.
