Hi,

I own two macs, an iMAC for the office and a MacBook Pro for when I travel. Is there a way to synchronize my contacts, tasks and appointments between the two macs?. I tried the export/import route but I start duplicating entries... Will appreciate your assistance.

Regards, Christian Conesa.

I didn't realise that IMAP offered the possibility of including contacts, tasks and others. I don't know where to find the option, though. What I have done with the emails is that my iMAC has my email account on a POP service thus messages get downloaded and archived in my mac and my MacBook is set up for IMAP thus emails are kept in the email server whilst I travel. Capacity in my email account isn't very large and, in addition, I am not happy keeping all my emails stored in an external account for a longer than average time.

Which would be the best way of keeping my two macs synchronised for contacts, tasks and appointments only?.

If the (updated) Blackberry software ever comes out, that's another way of doing it...

Await your comments.

No, you can't synchronize contacts and events using IMAP. If you have .Mac,
you can set up Sync Services on both machines so that your data synchronizes
to .Mac, and then connect to the same .Mac account on both machines so that
the information is populated in both places.

Thank you, Mickey. That's the conclusion I was reaching rapidly. Seems like and expensive way of doing it but in view of the lack of alternatives, I will consider it, I will start with the trial version to see how it goes.

Check these options out

Plaxo for Mac allows you to synchronize your existing Plaxo Address Book to
your Apple Address Book. Wherever you install a Plaxo toolbar your address
book will be consistent and stay updated automatically. You can also access
your Plaxo Address Book on the web through Plaxo Online.

Works with Mac OSX 10.3.9 and above, 10.4 and above for Calendar sync.
Unfortunately they don't do email, just contacts and calendar. It's great
service to back-up your data and it's FREE.

Spanning Sync Synchronize Google Calendar and Apple iCal. $25 gets you a
one-year subscription to the service and $65 gets you a permanent license.
