Synchronising with laptop

D

Don Edmonds

Greetings

I have:
Entourage 11.2.1
iMac G5
OS X 10.4.3

I am a self employed educator. I am taking on a new contract in 2006, and
will probably be supplied with a laptop (with the option to choose a Mac)
for that particular contract.

Will it be possible to to run Entourage on both my iMac and the laptop in
a way that can be synchronised?

One option is to copy the "Microsoft User Data" folder (/Users/<Your
User>/Documents/) from one machine to the same location on the other when
you switch computers. You can do this manually by connecting the computers
by FireWire or Ethernet. Note that you need to quit the "Microsoft Database
Daemon" using Activity Monitor (/Applications/Utilities/) before trying
this.

Another option is to use Paul Berkowitz's "Export-Import Entourage" script
package.

Are you looking only to synchronize Entourage or all the files you might
have accessed when moving between your iMac and laptop? If so, you will
want to look into applications that synchronize 2 machines such as
ChronoSync, Synchronize! Pro, Retrospect, etc. I have tried many of them
and personally like Synchronize! Pro the best, but each to his/her own
personal choice :)
